Sometimes, in the course of human events, we burn our nuggets. This note, left for us by one of Ben’s DSPeeps, made me laugh out loud, followed by quickly texting that the plates are old and chipped anyway – a little char is nothing.

We have all been there. Teachers live this every day. One minute, a kid is telling you about all the eggs the Easter Bunny brought and you are nominally listening. The next thing you know, you say something like, “Oh is that how many your mom hid?” Then you watch, in horror, as your second grader ages before your eyes, answering with a choke in her voice, blinking away tears, “Yeah.” Innocence killed? Check. (FYI: This wasn’t my story, but I have worked with many people over the years, and I have some doozies I’m saving up. Ask me about where the post-it note about Uranus ended up.)
I can see how the whole burned nuggets thing occurred. Ben is very confident. He says 10 minutes, you know it is hooey, but you have stuff to do! Next thing you know, you’ve got to stop, drop, and roll!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Ben has the best possible team to work with. We know that every minute of every day, he is valued and cared for. He dispenses cooking advice with the confidence of a Food Network star (even when said advice is suspect) but always he is heard and loved. Thanks, Team Ben! Rest assured, you’ve earned your spot in heaven, and someone will pull your nuggets out of the fire when the need arises!
