It looks like the next two weeks will be a whole new adventure, and we have stocked up on the essentials so we can bring you all the great food news while still adhering to every social distancing recommendation. After a very trying week, we retreated to the Crippled Bear for dinner.
Because wings seemed to me to involve gratuitous finger licking, I opted for the loaded potato skins.Ben and Phil went for nachos. They remind Phil and me of the little cardboard trays of nachos (chips and a pop out section of nacho cheese with canned jalapeño slices) that we got at concession stands during sporting events in the 80’s. These were a close facsimile, but lacked the limp jalapeño slices. By the way, in this picture’s background you only get a small taste of all the taxidermy this establishment has to offer.Ben poses with his cheesesteak and fries.Phil and I both got the Bear Burger (our old standby). Kettle-cooked chips directly in the basket instead of a mini smooshed bag? Game changer.
I asked Ben what he liked so I could post it on the blog. He said, “Everything. I loved it all.” While it may not help you break down the meal into its fundamental elements, you get the idea — The Crippled Bear is great!
