Until a few months ago, we didn’t even know this place existed. Our friends, Jim and Linda, took us here once, and it has been in our regular rotation since. Every time we’re here we have about a 75% chance of seeing Jim and Linda here too, so it obviously retains loyal customers!
We started with wings. While my assessment may be biased by hunger and a really long week, I would like to think that Ben, as my wing sensei, retains greater clarity in his judgement. He declared these, “the best,” and I would have to agree. He didn’t elaborate, due to eating wings, but I’ll tell you that the Buffalo Blue wings are perfect. They’re hot, crispy, saucy, and just spicy enough to keep you from pounding down a whole dozen without thinking.
Domers burgers are great, but so are their subs and cosmos. Ben had a cheesesteak with fries, I had a ham cosmo, and Phil had a cheese cosmo. For readers outside the area, a cosmo is a sub that has been toasted, so the cheese gets a little melty and the bun can withstand all the stuff it’s holding.
Tucked into a quiet, residential neighborhood, Domers fully embraces its Irish/Notre Dame theme. It’s small, friendly, and familiar with great food and service. Even the bathrooms are homey! I think the only drawback for Ben has been the high, swivel chairs. He feels unsteady on them and tried, at first, to anchor one foot on the floor. That didn’t work, so I think he is adapting to the feeling (for him) of an unsteady perch. Sometimes, son, you have to persevere for the greater good. Wings.
As we were just ready to leave last night, who should walk in, but Jim and Linda. We took the opportunity to stay a little longer and catch up. Why not? It’s Domers!
