Although sausage, cucumbers and honey roasted peanuts seemed like unlikely ingredients, we modified a recipe we know and love from my cooking idol, Ruth Reichl, to make Easy Vietnamese Caramelized Pork:
We substituted sausage for pork tenderloin, seedless cucumbers for Armenian cucumbers, and honey roasted peanuts for peanuts. The herbs and cucumbers are a great way to get some freshness into a hot dish. Yum!
Now, onto our new Chopped game. We have listed 19 ingredients that exist in our house. We would like you to vote for the ingredients you think we should use in our next meal. The 4 ingredients receiving the greatest number of votes by the time I get up tomorrow morning will be used.
Please select and submit from the 19 items listed below, what you would like Chef Ben to use in his next creation. I honestly don’t know whether you can vote for more than one item (#notreadyforremoteinstruction), but if more than one selection is possible, make like it’s toilet paper, and limit yourself to 4. Thanks!
My third vote—-pasta
(Second vote was oranges)
What was first? Though results are anonymous, I’m curious!
My choices of ingredients are:
Romano cheese
corn tortillas
pinto beans
dried morita chile
Thanks, Mom! I’ll register your votes and we’ll see how it turns out!
Ben, this is awesome. Keep on cooking and having fun. So glad I get to read how you are doing and what you are creating in the kitchen.
Thank you! We will keep on cooking!
