Remember when the world shut down and we spent our days wandering around in a daze, worrying, staring at screens, growing unkempt, cooking all the things, and gaining about 50 pounds? No? Just me?
As I look back now, I realize that most of that time actually produces positive memories for me. The pandemic was the great distiller. If you functioned as a cohesive, interdependent unit before the pandemic, that time brought out your best teamwork. If you were a selfish jerk before the pandemic, you are likely a still a major jerk now.
I recently came across the sign I posted on the fridge in late March 2020 and I believe that the principles we aspired to then are still relevant now.
Last weekend, we hunkered down for a weekend of snow, and something about it reminded me of early Covid days. Together, we worked on snow removal. We played dominoes. We cooked a giant pot of stew. We made Benderloin sandwiches. We made creamy chicken with pasta. We ended the weekend a few pounds heavier (I mean, do the math), but our spirits lightened, fortified to take on a new week.
