Ben and I have been on cooking and blogging sabbatical for a year, courtesy of Phil, but this week’s events warrant a return to social media… Sophia got married!

The day was everything anyone could hope for. If I had actually snapped some photos instead of Mother-of-the-Briding it up, maybe I could show you more photos. The day was perfect, bottom to top, with friends and family from our branch and Jake’s joining for a memorable event.

For Ring-Bearer Ben, the wedding day was a mix of weepy emotion and leaving it all on the dance floor. When I asked him what we should cook this week, I told him to think about perfect pairs in the spirit of wedded bliss, (a very esoteric directive for the guy who asks for steak every day.) He actually thought about it and said, “I think BLTs.” Yes, Ben! Is there any more perfect pairing than bacon, lettuce, and tomato? Answer? No. We have posted about BLTs in the past, so if you need a BLT recipe or a trip down memory lane, hit the sandwich section of the recipe index or click below.
Here’s the bottom line. At BDW, we believe that a good BLT has exactly 5 ingredients: baguette, mayonnaise, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. A good marriage has even fewer ingredients. Honestly, just one. Love. Everything else follows.
Sophia and Jake don’t need my advice and so I won’t give any. Your love will carry you through. When you find yourselves, years from now, sitting atop the world, you’ve earned every minute of happiness. Enjoy. If you find yourselves in a touch-and-go hospital room at 4 in the morning, you’ll weather that too. If somebody hands you a baguette, some bacon, a tomato, lettuce, and a jar of mayonnaise, we trust that you’ll figure it out. That BLT is to have and to hold.

Love all of this! Thank you for sharing. Glad Grandma Aldine could be a part of the festivities. 💕. BLT’s are the best. The baguette is an excellent addition.
Thank you so much for sharing!
