Ben turned 24 on Monday, and he enjoyed a sustained four-day celebration. On Friday, we hosted a burrito bar in the park with his crew for a birthday lunch. His birthday dinner out was at DiSalvo’s and involved an enormous steak that I neglected to capture photographically. Saturday Ben attended a Luau dance, complete with a nice meal, and met us at Barrel 135 for dessert. Sunday was Father’s Day, so Ben rode Phil’s coattails enjoying ice cream at Eder’s and hanging out with friends at New Trail. On Monday, his actual birthday, we had crepes with strawberries and bacon for “special breakfast” with Connie, followed by a full day of volunteering, ice cream, and beating the heat. For his home birthday dinner, Ben chose pork steaks, pasta, asparagus, and cake. How many special meals did you have for your last birthday? The astute reader sees that Ben had four this year, and if history is any indication, he’ll figure out how to up it next year. Well done, Ben.
So all that was the twenty-four. Do you want to hear about the “so much more”? Good, because I can’t contain myself even one minute longer. When we had our family birthday dinner out at DiSalvo’s, we were joined by Sophia and Jake, who…announced their engagement!
Wow! We could not be happier for this news. Jake is the best! These are two excellent, compatible human beings who found each other. What could be better than that? When you know, you know. (And they must have a pretty good hunch, too.)
Thanks, Sophia and Jake, for putting the WED in Ben’s Day WEDnesday and giving Ben a brother (in-law)!
