This weekend we splurged and got carry out twice. Last night was Barrel 135, and tonight was The Herdic House.
Ben and Phil both opted for the fried chicken sandwich from Barrel 135.Sophia went with the meatloaf grilled cheese. Yes, that is bacon wrapped around the meatloaf.I’m getting a couple of meals out of the fried chicken dinner with mac and cheese.
As always, everything was great, and it was really nice to take a break from cooking!
Tonight we got a kit from the Herdic House and made an evening of it. Everything was ready to go. We just had to broil the oysters and warm up the Champagne chicken. The cuisine inspired us to eat at the dining room table instead of at the kitchen table.
We started with the Rockefeller oysters, a family favorite.Next came the pear salad.Champagne chicken over long and wild grain rice with broccolini. Delicious. After dinner we played a very old school round of “The Beanbag Game.” Players take turns throwing beanbags onto sight words. When the beanbag lands on a bag, you read the word, remove it, and use it in a sentence.Ben read the word “clean” just fine, but whether he embraces its true meaning is less clear.Ben’s sentence: “Soon, the virus will be over.”Until then? We’ll be living large. Thanks, Herdic House.
Still enjoying Ben’s blog! Am sharing your beanbag game idea with grand kids.
Where are all your recipes? I wanted to make Ben’s banana bread again with all my over ripe bananas but I can’t find the recipe. 🙁
